The Clarkson Sheridan Soccer Club would like to thank our guest teams which participated in our Friendship Cup 2009. These teams were the Wexford S.C., Spartacus SC, and Club Nacional de Football (Uruguay). The teams overcame their challenges as they had to deal with injuries, short benches and regular league play while still keeping their commitment to our game schedule. 

This experience has been of great value to the different organizations on many levels. We’ve enriched our teams as individuals had the chance to shine and to rise to the occasion while at the same time, contribute to their teams on the soccer pitch. Our organizations have also become closer for the experience and friendships are now stronger. We look forward to the future, especially as we say good bye to our guests from Uruguay and wish them well always. We also thank the soccer community for supporting this event as some games saw attendance levels of two thousand people or more - some spectators coming in groups from Montreal and as far as New Jersey. We especially had amazing support from the Hispanic community and a big Thank You goes out to them. We must also acknowledge the many hours of work that our club volunteers and staff logged to make this event an amazing success. Thanks to our friends at Toronto Croatia S.C. – who, although they don’t have a team at this age group, helped secure facilities for our matches and our friends at PHSA who helped us with permits.  Last, but certainly not least, thanks to our sponsors for their contributions and to the many families who bought passes to attend the games.  

In summary, Thank You. Thank You All !  For the challenging competition, the sacrifice, the hard work, the friendship, the memories and the smiles!

"... the Clarkson Airshed Study was conducted by the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) over the last few years.  Findings confirmed the airshed is over-taxed by cumulative toxic emissions from existing heavy industry in the Southdown Industrial District and the nearby highways including the 403 and QEW.  In addition, because of the "lake effect" and lower topography, pollutants are not as easily dispersed in Mississauga South."
